Hi everyone!

Firstly, let me just say thanks to everyone who has participated in hpequality thus far! Whether you donated money, fanfic, items, or fanart, your contribution to the fight against Proposition 8 and basic human equality is incredibly appreciated. Through your efforts, we were able to raise over $600 for this cause, which is currently in the Supreme Court, so keep your fingers crossed!

Now, onto my reason for a mod post—we need your help!! nolagal and I have been discussing ways to get this community on a regular cycle. When I first envisioned hpequality, I didn't really have a game plan. But now, we're trying to come up with one so we can continue and expand our fund-raising efforts here. :)

So, if you have a moment, please fill out this quick survey and leave us some comments so we can work on getting hpequality back up and running!

Poll #1361779 HPEquality Community Poll--how can we improve this fund-raising community?

Would you prefer...

Different causes, chosen by the community
Different causes, chosen by mods
The same cause

If you'd prefer different causes, how often would you prefer changing the cause?

Some other time frame I will explain in a comment

If you'd prefer different causes, what causes would you like to see? (check as many as applicable)

Physical health issues (cancer, AIDS, etc)
Mental health issues
Human rights issues
Social issues (homelessness, hunger, etc)
Other gay rights issues
Teen issues (suicide prevention, eating disorders, etc)
Disaster relief efforts (fires, floods, earthquakes, etc)
Some other cause or issue I will explain in a comment

Would you like to have a recap each month of stories, art, and trinkets that have been donated with links to fiction, art, and photos of other donations?

Hellz yeah! That's awesome!
No way, that's stupid.
I dunno, I like ticky boxes.

How often would you prefer reminder posts about what fics, art, and trinkets are up for grabs?

Some other time frame I will explain in a comment
Thanks for your patience as we get this community reformatted!! :D If you've got any other ideas or suggestions, please feel free to comment away. We are all ears.
I thought hp_equality was a fantastic idea. I participated and donated. I also donated to help the Australian bush fire effort this year, and I was glad to do both. But honestly, my impression is that with the global economy as dismal as it is these days, most people can't afford to keep digging into their pockets and making donations on a regular basis. If I were a mod, I'd keep this comm for crisis situations such as the imminent passing of Prop 8, hurricanes, etc. That's when people are really going to rally over issues. Just my two cents.
I wonder if donors could select their own causes? Or maybe by category somehow - like me and so an so are writing for human rights, donate to one of these three charities?

Also, I think I would avoid the summary posts. The last round of charity auctions got me a little nervous. I think it's not a good idea to keep a permanent record of who has done what. In fact, I might go so far as to erase old entries/auctions and just have the current stuff up. Providing an easy summary of everyone who has exchanged donations for works seems like asking for trouble. I think the group is still awesome, but I think for the sake of the fandom, maybe we should be doing more to cover our asses? And you guys too, as mods. That way, should something ever happen (which I doubt it ever will, but you never know), it can look like a one-time thing. I don't know. Maybe I'm being too paranoid. I know on my own site, I took down all references to my works being related to charity drives...

I'd love to see a once a week reminder for the first couple of weeks and then maybe once a month after that - after the first flurry of donations have gone on, you know?
Hi! Do you think it would be possible to get something going for the Haiti Relief fund (I know red cross has a specific fund for Haiti relief). I know it's not an equality issue, but it'd be nice to see what fandom could do for the Haitians.
I missed the first round of this, but I think it's a fantastic idea and was wondering if it was going to be continued? :)
